On March 11, 2026, “Developer Harbor: Hong Kong’s New Opportunities in the AI Era” was successfully held at Xingdi Center in Chaoyang District, Beijing. The event was hosted by Web3Labs and YZi Labs and co-organized by the Beijing-Hong Kong Internet 3.0 Industry Center, Xingdi Center, and OpenSchool. Bringing together more than one hundred builders from university innovation teams and industry institutions across China, the event explored Hong Kong’s emerging opportunities as an international hub for technological innovation in the age of AI.
Bridging Two Cities to Build an Innovation Corridor
The event brought together over one hundred innovators from universities and frontier technology sectors across the country, presenting a comprehensive ecosystem panorama — from policy support to technology implementation. The event officially opened with keynote remarks by Chen Lei, Member of the Party Working Committee of Zhongguancun Chaoyang Park and Deputy Director of its Administrative Committee, and Dr. Johnny Ng Kit-Chong, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Hong Kong Legislative Council Panel on Commerce, Industry, Innovation and Technology. In their joint opening remarks, both speakers emphasized the strategic complementarity between Beijing and Hong Kong in technological innovation, talent mobility, and industrial collaboration, underscoring strong confidence in the two cities’ joint efforts to build a world-class innovation ecosystem.

Subsequently, Wong Wai-kei, Director of General Affairs of the Beijing Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, delivered a systematic overview of the Mainland Talent Admission Schemes, detailing the application channels, support measures, and development pathways in Hong Kong, and providing clear policy guidance for technology professionals seeking cross-border career opportunities in the city.

Caspar Wong, CEO of Web3Labs, delivered a keynote speech in which he argued that the true convergence of AI and Web3 lies not at the application layer, but at the protocol layer. He further noted that the next generation of investment logic will center on real-value infrastructure that is composable, verifiable, and executable.
Alpha Builders Make Their Debut, Showcasing Early Promise
A central highlight of “Developer Harbor: Hong Kong’s New Opportunities in the AI Era (Beijing Stop)” was the debut appearance of innovation teams from the Alpha Builders Innovator Recruitment Program. Jointly launched by Web3Labs and YZi Labs, the program aims to identify and empower China’s most promising next-generation technology builders while creating a critical pathway from campus innovation to integration with global ecosystems.
At the event, seven high-potential innovation teams from leading Chinese universities, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, and Zhejiang University, took the stage to present their projects. Their work spanned a range of frontier interdisciplinary fields, including AI agents, Web3 infrastructure, biocomputing, and privacy-preserving computing. These teams demonstrated not only strong engineering capabilities, but also a deep understanding of real-world problems—a vivid reflection of the value-driven innovation philosophy long championed by both organizers.

As a leading global Web3 investment and incubation platform, Web3Labs, together with YZi Labs, is seeking builders who are using technology to address real-world challenges across Web3, AI, and biotech. The Alpha Builders Program is a concrete expression of this vision in action: selected teams will have the opportunity to interview for EASY Residency, an initiative launched by YZi Labs, and may gain access to technical mentorship, ecosystem resource connections, and early-stage funding support to accelerate their journey from prototype to product.
From campus laboratories to the international stage, Alpha Builders is creating a fast track that connects young innovators with the global Web3 ecosystem. In many ways, this may well represent one of the most promising answers to shaping the future together in the age of AI.

At a time when AI and Web3 are reshaping the global technology landscape, Hong Kong is emerging as a critical gateway connecting outstanding innovators with the world stage, supported by its open institutional framework, internationalized ecosystem, and forward-looking policies. Web3Labs, together with YZi Labs, will continue to identify and support Alpha Builders who are bold enough to build and work alongside them to create a more tangible, intelligent, and composable digital future.
