From February 7 to 9, 2026, the Hackathon, a core component of the Global Web3 Dev Con 2026 (GWDC 2026), was successfully held at Cyberport, Hong Kong. The event was hosted by Web3Labs and co-organized by Tron, Pharos, Conflux, and Techub News.
As one of Asia’s most hands-on annual gatherings for Web3 developers, this year’s hackathon centered on the theme “For Builders, By Builders.” It brought together 35 development teams and more than 120 developers from eight countries and regions, who convened in person in Hong Kong for an intensive 48-hour build. Focusing on four frontier tracks — RWA (Real-World Asset Tokenization), AI × Web3, PayFi, and Account Abstraction — participants worked to explore practical pathways for translating Web3 technologies from concept into real-world application.
Focused on Real-World Needs, Built for Working Prototypes
Unlike traditional idea competitions, the GWDC 2026 Hackathon placed strong emphasis on engineering execution, with a focus on solutions that are functional, integrable, and scalable. Participating teams were required to deploy complete prototypes on the testnets of public blockchains including Tron, Pharos, and Conflux, and to submit open-source code, demo videos, and technical documentation. To support the development process, the event featured a dedicated 48-hour Coding Zone, equipped with high-speed internet, power access, and rest areas. Technical experts from participating public blockchain ecosystems were stationed on-site in rotating shifts to provide hands-on support in areas such as API integration, smart contract debugging, and architecture optimization.
Nine Teams Shine on the Main Stage
Following the preliminary screening and final on-site evaluation — conducted by a judging panel composed of core technical leads from participating public blockchains and experts from the Web3Labs Research and Investment team — nine teams advanced to the finals and took the GWDC 2026 main stage on the afternoon of February 9 for live pitch presentations. The finalist projects covered a broad range of innovative directions, including AI-powered RWA financing protocols, modular oracle infrastructure, toolchains for Account Abstraction wallets, and ZKML verification layers, fully demonstrating the growing vitality and innovation potential of the Web3 infrastructure layer.

More Than a Competition — A Starting Point for Ecosystem Building
“The GWDC Hackathon is not an endpoint, but the beginning of a shared journey between builders and the ecosystem,” said Caspar Wong, CEO of Web3Labs. “We are seeing more and more teams move beyond chasing the ‘next breakout DApp’ and instead focus on building foundational tools and infrastructure — and that is precisely a sign of Web3’s growing maturity.”
The source code of participating projects is being progressively open-sourced, and outstanding teams will enter the Web3Labs incubation pipeline, where they will continue to receive support across technology, capital, and market access. With the successful conclusion of the hackathon, GWDC 2026 has officially come to a close. Yet for builders around the world, the journey of creation is only just beginning. For Builders, By Builders. Make the world interesting again.

About the Global Web3 Dev Con Hackathon
The GWDC Hackathon is a core component of the Global Web3 Dev Con 2026, hosted by Web3Labs and co-organized by TRON, Conflux, and Pharos. We believe that true innovation is not found in slide decks, but in code that runs. The hackathon is designed to provide builders around the world with a high-impact platform that brings together technical challenge, ecosystem connectivity, and commercial validation. By addressing real industry pain points, it aims to advance Web3 from shared vision to collaborative construction and from early ideas to real-world implementation.
